With her accumulated expertise in writing, marketing, and technology, Ms. Dean launched Pretty Clever Things, a social media and marketing consultancy which specializes in adapting Fortune 500 marketing strategies to the specific needs of entrepreneurs using social media tools and strategies. She provides analysis of the feedback loop inherent in social media platforms, and ensures that marketing strategies adapt as new variables and business opportunities present themselves in the ever-changing media landscape.

Background

Ms. Dean developed her copy writing skills while earning a B.A. in Journalism at New York University. While earning her degree, she published in many local daily and weekly newspapers including NYU’s Washington Square News, Chelsea Now, and Our Town. She also worked a beat at New York Daily News, and honed her skills in producing effective and concise copy on a daily deadline.

Immediately upon graduation, Ms. Dean was invited to join NYU’s Office of Summer Sessions, the recruitment and marketing arm for NYU’s summer course offerings. I Am Canadian Made Contest Feature

Canadian Made Case Study

Traction Media Group worked for BookShorts Inc on a project for production company Primitive Entertainment; the assignment was to create and initiate a publicity campaign using social media networks to promote the television broadcast of Canadian Made series on History Television.  The overall plan included the creation of the technical infrastructure, social media tools and initial editorial voice of the campaign to get it ramped up quickly.  The team worked quickly to get an initial audience base on the social media platforms (spec. destination website, Facebook friends, Twitter followers etc.) and relied on Primitive Entertainment to provide the media content, additional editorial under the supervision of BookShorts. The intention was to tutor and ultimately “hand the reins” to the Primitive team so that once created, the community could be established, maintained and grown to support this and other Primitive initiatives.  Together the team created each of:  a WordPress site from the code up; the content and message strategy; the tactical plans and implementation schedule; all the infrastructure, process and procedure to deliver the campaign.  The resulting I AM CANADIAN MADE campaign helped deliver more than 300,000 viewers to the first run of the series, three times the desired viewership targeted by the broadcaster, History Television.
